Wellness Events at the Integrative Oncology Program
The Integrative Oncology program strives to consistently provide patients, caregivers, and staff with the opportunity to learn about the most current integrative therapies by hosting three annual events:
Breathing Room Fundraiser
The 3rd Annual Breathing Room fundraising event will be held on Friday, February 24th, 2017 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel. If you are interested in sponsoring please email Danielle Petrina at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 2nd annual Breathing Room event was held on March 4, 2016 at the Fairmont Hotel. The event brought 75 multi-tasking women together for an afternoon of relaxation and self-care. The event raised over $34,000 that will go directly to providing services like yoga and massage to patients with cancer through the Integrative Oncology program. Thank you to our sponsors and those that attended.
The Integrative Oncology Wellness Fair provides the opportunity for patients, caregivers, and staff to connect with wellness providers from the Pittsburgh region. Providers are available to offer demonstrations and answer specific questions. The 4th Annual Wellness Fair was held October 20, 2016 at the Herberman Conference Center at UPMC Cancer Pavilion.
Our educational symposiums provide an in-depth look into specific therapies through lectures and demonstrations. These events focus on strategies to safely integrate mind-body services with traditional cancer care. Each year has a slightly different concentration. In 2016, the Nurse Ambassador program focused on symptoms and quality of life at the bedside using meditation and aromatherapy.
