Johnathan A. Engh, MD (Surgical Oncology)
Johnathan A. Engh, MD, is an assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery, and the director of the Neuroendoport Surgery program at UPMC. Dr. Engh specializes in diseases of the brain, cranial nerves, and nervous system including brain tumors, gliomas, metastases, colloid cysts, intraventricular tumors, and spinal tumors.
Dr. Engh received an undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C., and received his medical degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. Dr. Engh completed his neurosurgical residency at UPMC, including a fellowship in minimally-invasive neurosurgery. He specializes in brain tumor treatment, and has a particular interest in minimally invasive techniques for brain tumor resection. His research interests include percutaneous intracerebral navigation, white matter fiber mapping for neurosurgery, and isolation of brain tumor stem cells.
Dr. Engh is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the Society of Neuro-Oncology. He has published numerous clinical and research articles on brain tumors.
