Cancer Outreach

Part of UPMC CancerCenter's mission is to move cancer knowledge beyond the walls of our hospitals and into the communities we serve.

Cancer Outreach — a program of UPMC CancerCenter and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute — works to increase the awareness of:

  • Various types of cancers.
  • Cancer risk factors.
  • The importance of early detection and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Cancer Wellness Events

Our wellness events focus on and encourage:

  • Cancer prevention.
  • Cancer screenings and early detection.
  • Healthy habits.

We hold wellness events in a variety of settings throughout the community, including:

  • Hospitals.
  • Workplaces.
  • Schools.

Cancer Presentations and Lectures

Community groups and organizations often ask Cancer Outreach to speak on specific topics, such as breast cancer. Speakers are UPMC CancerCenter oncology nurses and social workers.

Presentations provide evidence-based information and — depending on the topic — may include:

  • Lectures.
  • PowerPoint slides.
  • Videos.
